Federal contribution limits: $3,500 per individual per election. The primary and general are separate elections, so an individual may contribute up to $7,000 total per cycle to a candidate's authorized committee.

Who can give: U.S. citizens and lawfully admitted permanent residents. Contributions from corporations, labor unions, federal contractors, and foreign nationals are prohibited by federal law.

Tax status: Contributions to Brennan for Congress are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
